What areas can be treated with SmartLipo?

Those areas which are resistant to diet and exercise can be effectively be treated with SmartLipo. SmartLipo works best in small areas - double chin, turkey necks, hamster cheeks and jowls, bingo wings, knees, saddlebags, enlarges breast tissues in men, etc. It is ideal for people who are not excessively obese.

Can SmartLipo be used to treat fat deposits under the eyes?

No. Surgery or mesotherapy injections are the only solution to fat deposits under the eyes.

What will happen during SmartLipo treatment?

A micro-incision is made to allow the 1mm flexible, optic fiber to be inserted under the skin into the fat pocket to be treated Areas that have deposits of excess fat, and energy from a YAG laser is emitted and sent through the optic fiber where the fat cells are ruptured by the laser energy. Why is laser liposuction better than old-school lipo?

Does SmartLipo treatment hurt?

The level of discomfort experienced by our clients’ ranges from moderate to virtually painless. There are no tell-tale stitches and it can take as little as 45 minutes.SmartLipo is performed using a type of local anesthesia known as Tissue Infusion Anesthesia (TIA). Those clients that have experienced resistance to local anesthetics (e.g. when having dental work) may experience a similar resistance to the local anesthetic we use for SmartLipo treatment. The laser acts on the fat cells without affecting the nerve endings, so discomfort is significantly reduced relative to Liposuction. Some clients describe the sensation as tugging, scraping or a sensation of pressure.

How long does SmartLipo treatment take?

A Smartlipo treatment can take as little as 45 minutes; however it is advisable to keep one and a half hours to three hours in hand till they are on their way home. You are awake during the entire process and you will be able to feel the fats getting melted as your Boson doctor work on those unwanted fats.

When can I have SmartLipo treatment?

What happens to the fat melted by SmartLipo?

The adipose cells or the fat cells are absorbed and eliminated by your body. The walls of the fat cells are converted into a thick oily liquid, are absorbed by your body and is eliminated your lymphatic and blood systems over the subsequent few weeks. Patients with heart failure or severe kidney or liver disease should not have the procedure

Can I have SmartLipo if I have an under active thyroid?

Provided your hormone levels are stabilised by medication then yes you can still have SmartLipo treatment

Will I be put to sleep during the SmartLipo treatment?

SmartLipo is performed using a type of local anesthesia known as Tissue Infusion Anesthesia (TIA), therefore you will remain awake during the entire session.

How long will I need to be in bandages after SmartLipo?

SmartLipo seals the veins through laser pulses, virtually eliminating haematomas and the need for compression bandages. Bruising and swelling is also significantly reduced under SmartLipo treatment. You need to wear support garments or bandages for about 5-7 days after the treatment.

How quickly will I see results after SmartLipo treatment?

When the body eliminates the fat which is then transformed into an oily substance, the results are seen gradually over a number of weeks, though it may take up to four months for the maximum effects to be seen. This is because your body continues to process and naturally remove the released fat until none is left. Unlike traditional Liposuction, nothing is vacuumed from the treated area so there is little immediate sign that you’ve had treatment. To your friends, family and colleagues, it will appear as though you’re loosing weight through diet and exercise.

How much of a scar will I be left with after SmartLipo?

Almost no scarring; no stitches needed, the 1mm fiber optic laser is about the same size as a needle used to take blood. If you’ve given blood before you may have been left with a small scar, but most likely there is no scarring whatsoever.

Will I be left with loose skin after SmartLipo treatment?

Is SmartLipo a treatment for obesity?

No. All the lipo treatments are done for spot reductions that are to reduce fats from those pockets which cannot be reduced by doing normal exercises or even dieting. To treat obesity you need to do your regular exercise and maintain the healthy diet.

Is the fat removal permanent following SmartLipo?

Yes.Your body will not produce new fat cells to replace the ones melted out during Smart Lipo. Blood tests have shown that increase in fatty levels, cholesterol and triglycerides in the blood; there is no increased risk of heart attack or stroke.

Can I be treated with SmartLipo on the same day as my consultation?

Although there is hardly any risk in Smart Lipo we still require our clients to consider all the alternatives and risks before proceeding. If both you and your Boson doctor are happy to proceed following your consultation, your SmartLipo treatment can be booked in for the next available slot after your consultation.

Can SmartLipo treatments be repeated?

The best thing about SmartLipo is that unlike the traditional liposuction SmartLipo can be repeated if required. In fact when large areas need to be treated sessions of Smart Lipo is likely to be the best option.

Do I have to visit a hospital for SmartLipo?

Since you do not have to go under general anesthesia you do not have to visit a hospital. There is no surgery, SmartLipo treatments are undertaken at our Boson clinic in Harley Street.

Is SmartLipo new technology?

No SmartLipo has been used to treat thousands of clients since 2000. It is used in UK since 2006. We were among the first to offer the treatment and are still one of the most experienced in the country.

Is SmartLipo called anything else?

SmartLipo is also referred to as laser lipolysis, laser lipo or LipoSmart. All these terms refer to the same technology and treatment. According to People Magazine, " Smartlipo may be as close as humans can come to that fat-melting fantasy".

How much does SmartLipo cost?

Much less than traditional Liposuction. The exact cost will depend on the extent of the treatment. Most people find that a single SmartLipo session is all they need. Are there any hidden extras in the SmartLipo treatment?
