Mesotherapy

What is Mesotherapy?

Mesotherapy is an injection treatment by which nourishing substances are delivered to the layers of skin where most of the skin cell repair and growth occurs. Vitamins, amino-acids, minerals, hyaluronic acid – all essentials for healthy skin cells can be delivered by mesotherapy. Dull, tired looking skin; dry, lifeless skin, superficial wrinkles, pre- or post-operative skin conditioning – are the most common indications for mesotherapy

How mesotherapy is done?

A series of superficial injections is administered by hand or, for large areas, by a special syringe-gun which delivers rapid injections. Normally it is well tolerated but for a sensitive area, anaesthetic cream can be used prior to the treatment. Initially a course of 6-8 sessions is advised every 2 weeks, afterwards maintenance 1-2 times a year.

Are there any contraindications ?

There are almost no contraindications except known allergy to components in the proposed mesotherapy cocktail. However, it is not recommended for during pregnancy, breastfeeding, kelloid scarring, active infection or malignancy.

Is Mesotherapy treatment is safe?

Yes as all the substances used normally occur in skin, but to less degree in older, stressed skin.

Is Mesotherapy effective?

The treatment is very effective. The skin gets more luminescent, hydrated, nourished, and firmer, and will acquire an improved texture.

What are the side effects of Mesotherapy?

The main side effects are minimal bruising, swelling and marks from injections –none of these are long lasting. Other side effects such as infection, allergy, scar or pigmentations are very rare.

What aftercare is needed?

Immediately after the treatment ice packs are applied to reduce swelling and bruising. Moisturiser and SPF cream is used afterwards. Make-up can be applied after 24 hours.

Can mesotherapy be combined with other cosmetic treatment?

Does mesotherapy interact with prescription medication?

Mesotherapy is often used to enhance effects of other cosmetology treatments. For example, botulinim toxin A is often added to mesotherapy cocktails and the mixture is then called Mesobotox.
It is possible that certain prescription medication can interact with the components of cocktails. This will be discussed with the doctor at our preliminary consultation before any treatment is undertaken.
